The Blackrythmics is a Psychedelic Soul/Blues and Funk duo formed in 2013 by Singer/Songwriter and musician, Takeema Davis and Music Industry Veteran Producer and Composer Reggie Thompson.
Ms. Davis has been co writing and recording songs with Mr. Thompson for more than a decade. Mr. Thompson is best known for producing and mixing several multi genre and groundbreaking hits including the classics “Juicy fruit”and “Last Night A dee Jay Saved My Life.
The two met by accident during a recording session. Ms Davis is also an actress and author who packs them in during live performances at well known night spots in Brooklyn and Harlem.
The Blackrythmics call their brand of music “Sophitifunk.” Its a term that Reggie Thompson uses to coin the blending of several genres all wrapped up in an analog experience anchored by the power and beauty of Takeema Davis’s voice.
“Producers are only as good as the talent they support and with Ms Davis I have the pleasure of working with an original and timeless talent.”
