Richard Simon is a lifelong Chicago resident with a great love for the Windy City. Simon grew up in Lincoln Park and attended the University of Chicago for his bachelor’s degree and Northwestern University for his graduate degree. While at the University of Chicago, Simon met his wife. They married after graduate school and have five children together. The couple is active in the arts community in the City and chair several fundraisers throughout the year.
Simon is a patriot and loves the USA. He is often overhead telling anyone who will listen that he bleeds red, white and blue. No one celebrates the 4th of July in bigger style than Richard Simon. He loves to cook and considers himself a master griller. His Independence Day cookouts are legendary in Chicago.
Simon is an avid fisherman and can regularly be seen in Marinas around Chicago, discussing his latest catches with passerby. Simon and his sons take yearly trips to destinations such as Florida, Cabo San Lucas, Costa Rica and Hawaii in search of big game sport fishing centers. Richard Simon prides himself on his catch and release philosophy towards sport fishing. He does not keep any fish that he cannot eat. Simon is dedicated to sport fishing and in particular to Marlin fishing. He counts himself as lucky to have caught Pacific blue marlin, Atlantic blue marlin, striped marlin and white marlin. His next fishing trip is in search of the white marlin, the fish that has eluded him thus far.
