The art of trample can be seen in Indian and Christian art where devas and saints were depicted trampling underfoot their adversaries, which were personifications of the social evils of the day. 

Our modern expressions of trampling have become less religiousized and more fetishized. In modern trampling, also called trample sex, typically you have one or more women standing in a victory pose over the trampled. Other times we find a man laying beneath the high heeled or well booted feet of one or more sadistic women. The trampled is made to endure all manner of abuse under their feet for their sadistic amusement and pleasure. 

Often coupled with the art of trampling are various forms of foot worship or erotic humiliation. In the case of the latter, the trampled may be slapped repeatedly in the face with a woman's foot or forced to eat food or lick dirt from the bottom of her foot.
