00:00The well-known history professor and presenter of BBC Two's Finding Britain
00:04claimed to have discovered startling new evidence that all...
00:08Seriously, Tom. Why do you listen to those idiots?
00:15You should get that.
00:21Hello.
00:22Is this Professor Winston? My name's Maz Kafer.
00:25Are you press? Because I've got nothing to say.
00:27No, not press. I'm a director.
00:30Have you seen Crawling Darkness or maybe Blood and Madness Part 4?
00:34Sorry, I'm not familiar.
00:36Doesn't matter. I can have some copies sent over.
00:38Anyway, I'm calling because I need your help.
00:40Help?
00:41I'm going to be shooting my new movie over there in England next week
00:45and I need someone with your expertise to act as a consultant.
00:50Okay. What kind of consultants exactly?
00:53Well, I'm shooting at Ashgate University while it's closed for the summer
00:57and as you probably know, the whole area's got a long and crazy history
01:01so I need an expert who can help me understand the place, really get under its skin.
01:06I don't know.
01:08Now's not exactly a good time.
01:10All right. How about this?
01:11Come and meet me at the university the next Thursday morning.
01:14We'll have a look around, grab some lunch
01:17and if you're still not sure, I'll pay you for your time and send you home.
01:20Okay, I'll come for a look around, but no promises.
01:24Fantastic. I'll meet you at my trailer next Thursday at 10am
01:27and we'll take it from there.
01:29Okay, I'll see you Thursday.
01:31Oh, does the film have a name yet?
01:33It's right up your street, Professor.
01:36We're calling it...
01:37I said I'd call Lex when I arrived.

09:57where are you exactly
09:58so there's been a bit of hold up I'm afraid

10:20oh
10:21not long
10:22this farm's only a few minutes from the university
10:25so why don't you look around
10:26maybe talk to some of the crew and I'll give you a buzz when I get there
10:29there doesn't seem to be anyone here
10:35I'm sure you'll spot them soon enough
10:36the props manager Omar always wears this ridiculous purple hat
10:40guy looks like he killed a muppet and stuck it on his head
10:44you should be able to see him from a mile away
10:46okay
10:47I'll keep my eyes peeled
10:49actually while you're waiting
10:50I'd really like you to take a look at something they found just at the edge of the campus
10:54what is it
10:55I'll let you decide
10:56but if you go through the tunnel that leads back towards the front gates
10:59there's an opening in the rock on your right
11:02and if you keep walking for a minute or so
11:04you'll see some scaffolding that leads up into a cave
11:06is it safe?
11:07completely
11:08call me on the walkie when you get there
11:11I'm interested to hear your expert opinion

15:11very interesting
15:41okay i found the stones
15:49tell me what you see
15:50well it's not exactly stonehenge
15:55clearly not neolithic
15:57more likely bronze age
15:59seems to be local stone
16:01but less smooth than i would expect
16:03for something of this age
16:04it's a six stone formation
16:07no sign of any missing sections
16:10being hidden for so long
16:12certainly kept it well preserved
16:13quite a bit of information there professor
16:16so those things are old
16:18certainly looks like it
16:20but it's strange to find a formation like that
16:23hidden away
16:23you'd usually expect this kind of thing
16:25to be out in the open
16:26interesting
16:27i've got something else i'd like you to look at
16:31out past the deliveries area
16:33on the far side of the parking lot
16:35oh yes
16:36a different kind of stone
16:38it has stuff cut into it
16:41okay
16:41i'll uh
16:42try and find it
16:43follow the signs for the memorial gardens
16:46it's in a field back there
16:48let me know when you see it
16:50so what was next
16:57so what was next
17:15it's not a thing
17:19but i'll look at it
17:20it's a very good
17:21it's two ways
17:22to run
17:22you
17:23but it doesn't
17:24look at
17:25you
17:26would agree
17:27it would look at it
17:27no way
17:28it would look at it
17:28but it would look
17:30it would look
17:31it's just a ride
17:31too

17:32yeah
17:33yeah
17:33get it
17:33some foot

17:36and i'll say
17:37and i would love somebody
17:39and i love that
17:39that's what i've done
17:40I'll say
17:41and i'll request
17:42but i'll be
17:43So, what was next?
18:04So, what was next?
18:13So, what was next?
18:43So, what was next?
18:49So, what was next?
19:04So, what was next?
19:18Strange. These gates were open when I arrived.
19:29Hey, Mr. Kafer, you there?
19:34Hey, Professor, what's up?
19:36I'm down here at the gatehouse by the front entrance.
19:39And everything's locked up. Any idea why?
19:41The press have been caught sniffing around, so most likely security are just keeping access.
19:46I'll come here all the way down there.
19:49We're just having a look around.
19:51Okay. Well, I'll be there pretty soon. I'll let you know when I arrive.
19:54Great. Speak to you in a bit.
19:59So, what was next?
20:20So, what was next?
20:45So, what was next?
20:59So, what was next?
21:01So, what was next?
21:15So, what was next?
21:17Hello? Is anyone in there?
21:33So, what was next?
21:35So, what was next?
21:47So, what was next?
21:49So, what was next?
22:11So, what was next?
22:13So, what was next?
22:29So, what was next?
22:37This looks interesting.
22:39So, what was next?
22:40So, what was next?
22:44Mr Kafer, I'm at the stone you described.
23:13Tell me what you see.
23:15Interesting. There's a reddish-brown hue to the surface.
23:21Definitely brought in from somewhere else.
23:24The carvings are consistent with designs we'd find on a Class 1 Pictish stone,
23:29which would put the age somewhere between 500 and 700 AD.
23:35But why would something like this be here, so far from Scotland?
23:41The markings are hard to make out.
23:43Some of them could potentially be snakes.
23:47But like most early Pictish work, the symbols are hard to interpret.
23:51So this isn't connected to that stone circle then, am I right?
23:54Yeah. Except that they both seem oddly out of place.
23:58Odd works for me. Odd, creepy, sinister. That's my bread and butter right there.
24:03Oh, there's nothing particularly sinister about either of them.
24:06Although it's actually my partner who's the expert on Bronze Age Britain.
24:10So she might have more insight than me.
24:12Well, give her a call. See what she has to say. And then call me back.
24:15Sure. I can use a payphone.
24:18Good thinking. Let me know what she says.
24:19So, what was next?
24:35So, what was next?
24:50So, what was next?
25:05Hello?
25:23Hello. It's just me, Lex.
25:24How's it going?
25:25Fine. I wanted to ask you about these stones I've just examined.
25:31What kind of stones?
25:33Well, you see, that's the thing.
25:35There was a small stone circle. Remarkably well preserved.
25:39But also a class one Pictish stone.
25:42What? An actual Pictish stone all the way down there?
25:46That can't be right.
25:48I know.
25:48Was it relocated as part of a collection?
25:50It's just in a field near some generators.
25:52Weird.
25:53Exactly. There's no signal here.
25:57So, could you do me a favour and see what you can find out about this university?
26:01I should have done some research before I came, but I've been so hungover.
26:04Well, at least you managed to take a shower this morning.
26:06I also made some toast.
26:08Congratulations. You're a semi-functioning adult male.
26:12My mother would be proud.
26:14Can you look into this place for me? See what you can dig up?
26:17Yeah, no problem. I'll get my spade and willies.
26:19Great. I'll call you again a bit later on. Thanks.
26:23I'll call you again a bit later on.
26:32Hello.
26:33I'll call you again.
26:34Hello.
26:34Hello.
26:35Hello.
26:36Hello.
26:36Hello.
26:37Hello.
26:37Hello.
26:38Hello.
26:38My partner Lex didn't really have much to add about the stones, but she did echo my feelings
26:51about them seeming out of place.
26:53Fair enough.
26:54Perhaps this next thing I want you to look at
26:56will give you some more to work with.
26:57It's apparently called The Cutter's Stone,
27:00which, by the way, would make an excellent title for a movie.
27:02Sounds promising.
27:04Where is it?
27:05Head into the university,
27:06and when you find a big open area between the buildings,
27:10you should see some signs off to the left.
27:12Give me a buzz if you get lost, or when you find it.
27:15Will do.
27:21So, what was next?
27:45So, what was next?
