00:00Hello once again everybody, this is the K2R2 or K2 Retrosecond coming at you guys with another video and this time it's going to be my first tutorial video.
00:09I've never done a tutorial video on this channel until now, so yeah.
00:15This is going to be the first time I do a tutorial video on this channel for you guys.
00:20So today I'm going to teach you guys how to dump the ROMs for Atari 50 legally.
00:26And I said, legally, because I don't condone piracy, I condone you guys getting legal stuff.
00:36Alright, so please do not pirate Atari 50, please do not pirate any of these games on this list here.
00:46Do not pirate these games, get a legal copy, you know, because Digital Eclipse worked very, very hard on compilations like Atari 50.
00:56So it's really best you get them legally and you'd be in your best interest to do so, definitely.
01:03Alright, so without further ado, let's begin the tutorial.
01:07So, the first thing you're going to need is, I said, a legal copy of Atari 50 for any of these games on this list here.
01:17And these games on this list include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Cowabunga Collection, The Making of Karateka, Garbage Pail Kids,
01:25Llamasoft, The Jeff Minter Story, Tetris Forever, Blizzard Arcade Collection, Muddy Morphin Power Rangers, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection.
01:33So, this tool here, the Cowabunga tool, it works with all of these.
01:40It definitely works with these.
01:43So, if you guys want to learn how to dump this, you can use my tutorial, which is this video here,
01:49if you guys are having a hard time using the Cowabunga tool.
01:53So, definitely get the latest release of the Cowabunga tool, which at the time of this video is V1.0.2.
02:02I don't know if there are plans to update Cowabunga in the future.
02:07Hopefully, the developer of this tool actually updates it soon.
02:15Hopefully, you know, maybe when Digital Clips puts out more, you know, retro compilations,
02:23you know, maybe we can see this tool support those in the future.
02:26But, hey.
02:28So, of course, you want to download the latest release of Cowabunga.
02:33And after you do that, you should see this.
02:38So, this is what it looks like.
02:40We have Source, Cowabunga, and Cowabunga64.exe.
02:47So, in my case, we're going to put this Cowabunga64.exe into where this Atari 50 is.
02:57Assuming that you guys have Atari 50th anniversary celebration,
03:01of course, that's where you want to put your Cowabunga64.exe.
03:06So, yeah.
03:07So, now that you completed this step, now you want to do the next step, and that's open up CMD.
03:15So, right here, you click on this URL bar, and then you type in CMD, and then it'll open this up,
03:25which is the command prompt.
03:28Now, the next step you want to do, and this is where we're going to be talking about the keys,
03:37and this command here, literally this command here.
03:41So, if you want to manually type this, that's fine.
03:45But, just for the sake of making this tutorial quick, I'm going to copy and paste it for you guys.
03:50So, you can copy, paste, just like that.
03:57So, it should look like this, right?
04:04And you can see there are a list of possible keys that you can use.
04:08So, pretty much these keys are for different games.
04:14So, of course, if we use Cowabunga on the Atari thing, it's not going to dump the thing.
04:20So, what we want to do, what we want to do is we want to change Cowabunga to Atari.
04:32And so, what this is, so you're also going to type in assets.py and then assets.zip.
04:39Because assets.py is right here, right?
04:44So, after you have this typed in or copy-pasted like I did, you want to hit enter.
04:55And so, what this is going to do is that it's going to make an assets.zip in the directory.
05:03Now, it's going to take about a couple minutes or seconds to do.
05:10So, you want to sit back, relax, and be patient as the ROM's done.
05:15Now, it doesn't take forever to do it, you know, but I can only assume it probably takes long depending on how many files are in there or something.
05:23So, that's all I can assume.
05:27So, let's sit back, relax, and be patient, you know.
05:30So, get a drink, get a snack, you know, maybe watch your favorite show on TV or something while you wait.
05:40Or, in my case, read a Bible.
05:44And let's wait.
05:46So, we're waiting, and we're waiting, and we're waiting.
05:52So, it's still working its magic, but once it's finished, you should see a message saying that it's complete.
05:58Well, in some sort of way.
06:02So, here we go.
06:05Hopefully, it'll be done.
06:09And not to mention, this also works for the DLC files.
06:12So, for the DLCs, you'd have to use Atari DLC 1 and DLC 2, which I'm also going to show you guys here in this video as well in a bit here, once this is complete.
06:26So, we are still waiting.
06:38Anytime now.
06:40Anytime.
06:42All right.
07:10And it's done.
07:10So, you should see a message here that says, the output file, assets.zip, was successfully converted and is a valid zip file.
07:20So, you should definitely see this message.
07:24And here you can see, this is the assets.zip file.
07:27Now, I'm going to open this up with, excuse me.
07:30I'm going to open this up with Winrar.
07:34And with Winrar, look at that.
07:38Oh, look at those assets.
07:40Look at those assets.
07:40Look at those assets.
07:42So, you got ROMs.
07:45And as you can see, we have the ROMs here.
07:48But you got Atari 800, 2600, look at all those 2600 ROMs here.
07:55That's a lot, huh?
07:57You got some 5200 up in here, some 7800.
08:00And then you got these arcade ROMs, and then you got these arcade ROMs, which I don't think they work with MAME.
08:07At least, I don't think they do.
08:09I don't think so.
08:11But, either way, it works.
08:16It actually works.
08:17And you can play these, like, 2600, 5200, or 7800 ROMs on any emulator of your choice.
08:26So, it's just proof that it works.
08:31So, let's dump the two DLCs, you know?
08:35Because, let's say you want to dump the DLCs, and you want to play, like, let's say, the Amp Air prototype, or the other DLC games on the emulators, right?
08:47So, of course, we see these Pi files here that say DLC 1 and DLC 2.
08:54So, we're going to do the same thing that we did before.
08:58Which is this, except we want to type in Atari DLC 1.
09:12Now, what you also want to do is you want to change the name of this to simply DLC 0-1.
09:21So, I'm going to type this in right now.
09:26Did I type it in right?
09:28No, I didn't.
09:32Alright.
09:38There we go.
09:40So, it should look like this.
09:43And, here we go.
09:47So, what it's going to do is that it's going to dump the DLC files.
09:52So, again, make sure you're patient as you're doing this.
09:58And, it should work its magic, which it's doing.
10:05And, there we go.
10:07There we go.
10:10Look at that.
10:12DLC 0-1.
10:13Open it with Winrar.
10:17There are the ROMs.
10:20Look at that.
10:23Ah.
10:26Ooh.
10:26This thing really does work like a charm, doesn't it, you guys?
10:37Alright.
10:38Alright.
10:39So, we're going to do one more.
10:41And, that one more is going to be DLC 2.
10:46So, again, same thing.
10:48Change Cowabunga to Atari DLC 2.
10:58And, there we go.
11:10So, let's watch it do the work.
11:11Like I said, just sit back, relax, and be patient.
11:28There we go.
11:30There we go.
11:31See what happens when you're patient.
11:39So, let's open it up with Winrar.
11:46Wow.
11:47Look at all those ROMs.
11:50And, of course, they work on emulators.
11:52So, you can play them on any emulator of your choice.
11:54And, there you go.
11:58That's it.
11:59So, that was pretty easy.
12:02I think that was very, very easy.
12:04What about you guys?
12:05Do you guys think that's easy?
12:06I think it's easy.
12:07So, there you go.
12:09That is how you dump the Atari 50th Anniversary Celebration ROMs.
12:15So, I really thank you guys for watching.
12:18And, I really hope this encourages you guys to get these games legally.
12:23And, to start dumping the ROMs legally.
12:27And, I really hope this tutorial is pretty helpful for you guys.
12:32So, that is it for this tutorial video.
12:34I am the K2R2 or K2 Retro Second.
12:37And, I thank you guys for watching this video.
12:40Stay tuned for more videos coming soon as always.
12:42God bless.
12:44And, peace out.
