00:00It took me 7 years to realize this insane detail in Avengers Infinity War.
00:04In the movie, we learn that to obtain the soul stone, you must sacrifice someone you love.
00:08Shortly after, we see Thanos use Gamora to pay that price and obtain the stone.
00:11But if you stop to think about it, all of this is far deeper than it seems at first glance.
00:15It's safe to assume that Thanos already knew exactly what the cost would be to acquire the
00:18soul stone. The problem was that he had no family and no one he truly loved.
00:22So when he adopted Gamora, it's very likely that this was already part of a larger plan,
00:26ensuring that in the future, he would have someone to sacrifice when the time came.
00:29But Thanos didn't stop with Gamora. He also adopted Nebula.
00:32And the strangest part is that he forced the two of them to fight constantly,
00:35replacing parts of Nebula's body with cybernetic implants every time she lost.
00:39At first glance, this looks like pure cruelty. But what if all of this had an even darker purpose?
00:44What if the goal was to make Nebula hate her own sister to the point of being willing to
00:47fight her to the death, if necessary? This is where the most disturbing theory of all comes in.
00:51Over the years, Thanos may have developed a genuine love for Gamora,
00:54to the point where he couldn't bear the idea of sacrificing her with his own hands.
00:57So he came up with a new plan. By adopting Nebula, Thanos ensured that Gamora would have
01:01someone she loved deeply. The fights between them were never truly fair.
01:04Nebula's cybernetic enhancements, in practice, only made her more limited,
01:08ensuring that Gamora always won and strengthening that bond of guilt,
01:11affection, and protection between them. In other words, when Thanos realizes that he
01:15wouldn't be able to sacrifice Gamora himself, he literally gives her a sister.
01:18All so that, in the end, Gamora would be forced to make the sacrifice for him.
01:22This turns the relationship between the three of them into something even more cruel,
01:25calculated, and disturbing than it already seemed.
