00:00Paul Vance is a police lieutenant with the Connecticut State Police.
00:05He's been briefing reporters today, and I asked him what he saw when he arrived at the school.
00:11It's a horrific scene. It's a very tragic scene.
00:14As we've been reporting, it involved the death of numerous children, 20 to be exact, six adults.
00:21And it's a very tragic, horrific scene.
00:24Were the children who were killed in one classroom spread out across the entire school?
00:31One section of the building is the best way we can explain it.
00:35The deceased were all located in one complete section of the building.
00:39And where was the gunman found?
00:40In the hallway.
00:42Outside a classroom?
00:43Correct.
00:44As the sun is going down now, are the victims still in the school?
00:48Yeah, this is a long process.
00:51And by that I mean it's a crime scene, it's a criminal investigation,
00:54and Band-Aids that we meticulously document every single square inch of that building.
01:00We meticulously document all the facts and circumstances, and that's time-consuming.
01:05We will then work with the medical examiner through removal of the deceased and initiate that process.
01:11And we certainly have a great deal of work that needs to be done in this investigation.
