Although largely forgotten today, Gene Kardos' orchestra had a pretty advanced sound, announcing the swing period. None of the soloists are too well-known (trombonist Pete Salemi comes the closest), but the band is quite strong, with exciting ensembles and purposeful solos. This great record was made in 1931.
