India Energy Week 2026 Day 2 Highlights | Hydrogen, LNG & India’s Global Energy Role

Day 2 of India Energy Week 2026 in Goa put the spotlight firmly on innovation, affordability and India’s growing influence in the global energy system. As global energy companies look to expand their presence in India, Indian PSUs accelerated their push towards hydrogen, cleaner fuels and technology-led solutions, reinforcing a transition that is both clean and affordable. Leadership discussions highlighted the importance of affordable LNG, with prices in the USD 6–7 per MMBtu range seen as critical for expanding natural gas across transport, power generation and city gas distribution. Indian Oil reaffirmed its commitment to hydrogen as a fuel of the future, focusing on commercial viability through projects such as the Panipat hydrogen plant. City Gas Distribution also remained a key focus, with emphasis on pipeline connectivity and coordinated planning. GAIL showcased advances in hydrogen production, gas infrastructure and AI-driven operations, while Engineers India Limited (EIL) highlighted its role in building India’s energy backbone through technology, digitalisation and advanced refinery solutions. A major highlight was the OPEC World Oil Outlook 2025, which projected India as the largest contributor to global energy demand growth till 2050, with demand expected to nearly double. Discussions on electrification further underscored electricity as central to economic growth, energy security and decarbonisation, driven by grid expansion and digital reforms.
