EU-leaders: Trump's Greenland threat risks 'dangerous downward spiral'

Italian PM Giorgia Meloni PM has called threatened US tariffs over Greenland a 'mistake', adding that she has spoken with US President Trump on the telephone.

00:00The UK, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden have issued a joint statement
00:09saying Trump's Greenland threat risks, quote, a dangerous downward spiral and undermines
00:15transatlantic relations.
00:19The NATO members then went on to say that they stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom
00:24of Denmark and the people of Greenland and are ready to engage in a dialogue based on their
00:29principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
00:34On Sunday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said in an interview a US invasion of Greenland
00:40would make Putin, quote, the happiest man on earth.
00:43He explained that any military action by the US against Denmark would damage NATO and legitimize
00:49the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
00:54Ukrainian leaders have pledged a united response after US President Donald Trump threatened
00:59fresh tariffs until Denmark agrees to sell Greenland.
