Labcane began in 2004 as “Balance”, in Amsterdam.
“Balance” started playing venues in and around Amsterdam, the rest of the Netherlands, and also Germany and Ireland. Having recorded 2 demo cd’s, and gaining interest from programmers in larger local venues(such as Paradiso, Melkweg, and P60), they decided to record a 5 track E.P. in 2007.
With the new recording came a name change for the band due to legalities. “Labcane” was born of an anagram of “Balance”, and proved to be a freshly coined word, unused before in the history of man and music!!
Soon after, the band were contacted by Cedric of Bekurious Management, a French-based company, with whom they still work at present.
2008 saw the original drummer leaving the band, creating a difficult period which luckily now has come to an end with Guillermo joining on drums in july 2009. Having spent two months of intensive preparations in the rehearsal room, Labcane recorded a 12 track album at Sing-Sing Studios, in Friesland, North Holland.
Now complete, with a new album in tow and a fresh start in mind, Labcane are back in business, doing what they’re meant to do… ROCK ON!!
