Felix Mendelssohn's celebrated aria "Lord God of Abraham" from the oratorio "Elijah." Many opera singers, including Bryn Terfel, Thomas Hampson, Simon Keenlyside and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau have recorded the piece. However, the aria is traditionally sung in English or German (as "Herr Gott Abrahams"). This recording presents it with the original Biblical Hebrew text for the first time.

If you like the music of Felix Mendelssohn, oratorio, classical music, especially opera singing and classical vocal music, or sacred music, I hope that you will enjoy this unique recording.

Although "Elijah” and this aria, MWV A25, Op. 70, Pt. 1: No. 114, were composed to German and English librettos, the text is derived from the Hebrew Bible. The German and English translations diverge at times from the original biblical text. This performance restores the aria to the language of its original biblical source, offering listeners a fresh perspective on one of Mendelssohn's greatest masterpieces.

The soloist in this world premiere Hebrew recording is Bass-Baritone Marc Berman (that's me).
