Inspired by such musical influences as Dead Can Dance, Death in June, Peter Murphy, and David Bowie, Frausun is a one-man project representing the masculine expression of feminine energy, hence the name Frau (Woman) Sun (Male Strength). Kurtz, the sole performer of the group, is influenced by a variety of literary sources, from Kate Chopin and Keats, to Nietzsche and William S. Burroughs to bring his Electronic/Ambient/Gothic sound.

With mythological images and world instruments, in the backdrop of modern digital effects, the work brings together a variety of different worlds and styles.

“I wear a golden veil as a symbol for the sun. The dots and dashes scattered among the imagery and sounds are Morse Code, revealing secret phrases, enhanced by Magick. In my song “Anthem for Raganorak,” the opening beat is spelled out as O-D-I-N in Morse Code, using bass, invoking his name before he battles to the death.”
