Inspired by a bunch of music genres such as nu metal, post-metal and experimental music, the Brisbane based rockers are a mix of rock opposing institutionalized composition with a DIY aesthetic and variable sonics. Originally consisting singer/guitarist Sean David, singer/guitarist Barry (Crab) Mobarghaee, bassist Paul Kunne and drummer Richard James Francis, the band was formerly known as Dismay and Mesmerized before settling on Alpine Dystopia. Sean and Barry met at a student accommodation where both lived and jammed making their first song Get Psycho. Get Psycho was a humorous take on classic rock and glam metal that was recorded in 2 hours in a cinema room back in 2015. Sean and Barry began to make more songs later to become compiled in Alpine Dystopias first EP Industrial Wastelands to Green Prison and future releases.
