Firefighters are called for a reported fire, which turned out to be a fireplace DVD playing on a TV screen.

Firefighting is a dangerous profession, one recent story however tells us there are exceptions.

Firefighters were called to the scene of a reported blaze in southern Sweden.

Employees at an elderly care facility contacted emergency officials after they saw what they believed was a fire in a neighboring building. Care workers spotted the blaze through the window of the residential complex and became worried that the fire might spread.

Prepared fire personnel and emergency officials arrived on scene, but to their surprise the flames were actually coming from a TV screen. Residents of the apartment had inserted a fireplace DVD which is what had been seen through the window.

One the emergency responders joked - “We even stayed and watched the fire for a while afterward”.

Fire personnel in Aberdeen, Scotland also responded to a strange report recently.

A 52-year-old man had his head stuck in the top of a public garbage bin. It took rescue workers approximately 15 minutes to free the man's head.

Earlier this year, firefighters were dispatched to a bar in San Diego to help a woman free her hand, which had gotten stuck in a pool table pocket.
