Shen Yun Performing Arts held its first Hamilton performance at the Hamilton Place this Wednesday night, just after finishing four successful performances in Ottawa.

Later this week ,Shen Yun will perform in Kitchener-Waterloo before going on to Montreal and then Toronto. Our correspondents have this report from Hamilton.

Ruth Mcguirl is a Crown Counsel at Public Prosecution Service of Canada. She saw Shen Yun with her parents in Hamilton, Canada.

[Ruth McGuirl, Crown Attorney for Federal Government]:
"It was beautiful. It was very classy. It was beautifully done."

Her father, Allen McGuirl, is a pastor. More than two decades ago he and two friends started a non-profit business making solar-powered radios for people in third world countries.

[Allen McGuirl, Pastor]:
"It was great to see all the different ones do their part so exact coordinator. I really liked this. The audio-video, the choreography was just, fantastic, the way they brought in and then people came up on to the platform. It was well done."

Mrs. McGuirl also enjoyed the dance.

[Florrie McGuirl, Christian Education Director]:
"Just the skill of these dancers was exciting to watch. And one of the things I enjoyed too was that it was such a clean program."

Shen Yun's orchestra impressed Ruth.

[Ruth McGuirl, Crown Attorney for Federal Government]:
"We really liked the hybrid of the classical instruments, the western classical and the Chinese classical instruments. The costumes were incredibly beautiful and very classy as well."

Mrs. McGuirl agreed.

Mr. McGuirl says Shen Yun offers insight into China's heritage.

[Allen McGuirl, Pastor]:
"It shows the quality of people from China...People need to see what they can learn about your (Chinese people's) past and history and how it makes us aware of what a great heritage China has over the years. So we really enjoyed it. It was a great evening. Fantastic."
