A young man practices firing a bow and arrow, amid violent clashes at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

In some of the worst violence Hong Kong has seen in its months-long protests, police attempted to clear 'PolyU' with tear gas, armoured cars and water cannon.

Protesters responded with petrol bombs, arrows and other missiles, some of them fired from large catapults. At least one police officer was hurt by an arrow.

Police have warned they may use lethal force to clear the site.
