As the old saying goes ‘no good deed goes unpunished’. One man in Portland, Oregon did the right thing by helping his girlfriend, Hayley Crews sell two beds, but it turns out he accidentally got rid of her cat too.

Crews was working, so Roy Dufek went to her home to meet a Craiglist buyer to handle the sale of a bed.

The buyer arrived and Dufek helped carry out the mattress and box spring. What he didn’t know at the time was that his girlfriend’s cat named Camo had crawled inside a hole in the box spring. When he realized the feline was missing, it was too late.

That’s a place where Camo had hid in the past. Crews taped it up, but later removed the adhesive material when it was time to sell the box spring. That opening let him crawl right back inside.

The Craigslist buyer allowed the couple to search the property and garage however there was no sign of the cat, so he could have jumped out sometime during the box spring’s transport.

Sightings have been reported, but thus far the cat is still on the loose.

So next time you are selling your mattresses, be sure to check for any pets before getting rid of the mattresses.
