Criminals will often get busted due to a silly, absent minded mistake. In one recent case, a drug bust went down in Nevada County, California thanks to a woman’s text message, informing a friend that she had drugs to sell.

The problem was that instead of texting the message to a buddy, she accidentally sent it to a cop. Of course, the deputy who received it took advantage of the situation and played along, messaging back and forth several times with the lady, later identified as Jessie Mulligan.

A meeting was set up and Mulligan showed up carrying fentanyl, which is considered an opiate very similar to morphine. Thanks to that wrong number mishap, Mulligan has been arrested and she is now facing three felony charges.

Detectives involved in the case were thrilled to have taken some drugs off the street, especially since the arrest and sting were made so easy, due to the suspect’s error. According to police lieutenant, Steven Tripp, criminals accidentally calling or sending messages to cops is a common blunder.
