Air strikes push Islamic State back from Kobani: officials

U.S.-led air strikes bombard the Syrian border town of Kobani, in an effort to drive Islamic State fighters back to the outskirts.

But despite the attacks, the militants say that after a three-week assault, their advance on the city will continue.

..and all the while, Turkish forces across the border stand back and watch...without firing a shot.

For many Turks, Ankara's reluctance to intervene is unacceptable, and their anger is now boiling over into violence.

Across the country, they're taking up arms, demanding their government do more to save the mostly Kurdish town across their border.

Fierce clashes killed at least 18 people, Tuesday... With eight killed here in Diyabakir, as pro-Kurdish protesters and members of Kurdish Hizbullah faced off in the streets.

Now, police patrol the area to enforce a curfew, while the Turkish government tries find a way to ease tension on the border... without being sucked into Syria's civil war and becoming a targe
