Church Street Sobbin/Kansas City Man Blues Stumptown 1999
Stumptown Jazz from Portland, Ore.
This is my first try to get some music clips in for which I have no film to match.
From 1997 until 2006 I was the cornetplayer with Stumptown Jazz from Portland Oregon.
I played 25 years in Toronto's Climax Jazz Band but in 1996 my wife and I moved to Western Canada.
Gary Peteron, Stumptown's leader and pianist asked me to join the band. We played many jazzfestivals but in the last few years demand for Stumptown has somewhat diminished.
Personally I have found this group to have wonderful qualities. During the many festivals I often brought my Sony minidisc recorder and was able to record some great moments, like this Kansas City Man blues.
Most of it never issued, just in my collection.
In the band are Gary Peterson piano, Phil Hatton reeds, Rex Rice trombone. Dave Brown guitar/banjo, John Wallin tuba/bass, Bill Franklin drums and I play cornet
This film has a few pictures of the band, all I could find, and in Kansas City Man Blues I made a photo display of pictures I took of the Okanagan where we now live.
