This is the title track of Tsai Chin's wonderful first album from 1979. It is also the last track on Campus Folk volume 1, which is the best LP of songs in the genre that I have heard. I have put the lyrics in both pinyin and English translation under each picture in the video. Lots more Campus Folk songs to come during the next few weeks.
Tsai Chin was born in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan on the 22nd of December, 1957, and recorded her first album in 1979 for Seamount. By 1990, she had recorded 26 albums, and won the hearts of millions. She sings in both Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese Hokkien. Tsai Chin married director Edward Yang in 1985, a marriage that lasted until 1995.
English Translation of Lyrics: For me sing in the words of Leaving Home Use those forgotten ancient words With beautiful vibrato gently calling My heart's great rivers and mountains That only the Great Wall outside only fragrance Who said all along song too sad tune If you do not want to hear That is because the song is not your desire And we always sung repeatedly Thinking of Trinidad shining golden land Thinking about the sand whistling through the desert Think of the Yellow River shore Yinshan next The hero horse riding strong horse riding celebration hometown
