STORY: Dozens of people were wounded on Friday when clashes flared again between stone-throwing supporters and opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood group in Alexandria's Victor Emanuel Square.

Hundreds of anti-Muslim Brotherhood demonstrators marched after Friday's prayers from al-Qaed Ibrahim's Mosque to the city's Northern military zone to denounce the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood's leader Mohamed Mursi.

Supporters of Muslim Brotherhood intercepted the march at Victor Emanuel Square and hurled stones at their opponents.

The demonstrators torched piles of rubbish to block the road while Muslim Brotherhood supporters replied with wooden sticks to disperse their opponents.

Security forces eventually intervened to break up the clashes, which took place few meters away from Alexandria's security directory.

Egypt is increasingly mired in polarized politics since President Mursi took office last June.
