Ukraine's Trained Killer Dolphins Escape to Find Mates

Did you know that dolphins are part of Ukraine's navy?
Recently, three of those killer dolphins abruptly took off and left their handlers. An expert believes they headed out to sea to look for mates.
Several weeks back, reports surfaced that only two out of five of the special dolphins returned to the base following an exercise. The Defense Ministry initially denied the reports and also refused to confirm their use of dolphins, but photographs of the sea creatures sporting military equipment seems to say it all.
A former Soviet navy officer says of past experiences “If a male dolphin saw a female dolphin during the mating season, then he would immediately set off after her. But they came back in a week or so.”
It was reported last year that the Ukrainian navy decided to start military training for the dolphins again. The dolphins' jobs included going after enemy swimmers, marking items of interest with buoys, patrolling the waters and investigating underwater mines.
The United States began teaching dolphins in the 1950s to detect mines and stop explosions, but the Ukraine took it a step further. Called 'killer dolphins', they could utilize knives and guns, which would be attached to their heads.
