Massive snowstorm slams U.S. Midwest

A blizzard is barreling across the U.S. Midwest.

Already, over a thousand flights have been cancelled as massive traffic delays sweep the region.

The huge storm was due to hit Washington, D.C. on Wednesday - where the National Weather Service expected the most snowfall in possibly two years.

Here in Chicago, the Weather Service had issued a winter storm warning, with up to eight inches of snow expected.

At the Windy City's O'Hare International Airport there's already been over six inches.

Officials said the snowy weather may have been a contributing factor in a deadly crash on Interstate 70 in Marshall, Illinois, near the border with Indiana.

A female driver crossed the median and crashed into a tanker truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver and her young child were both killed.
