DC Driving points. This video describes points received for traffic offenses in District of Columbia. Good afternoon ladies and gentleman. My name is Mark Rollins. I am an attorney here in Washington D.C., I’m also licensed here in the state of Maryland. Today we are going to be discussing driving points and their effect on you. Driving points are those points that you receive upon being found guilty of certain charges. When you are found guilty of certain charges in D.C., you will receive points on your license. If you reach a maximum of 12 points on your license, your license will be suspended or revoked. There are the top offenses that I will lay out in this video that talk about when your license is revoked for these offenses. The first one is hit and run. That means if you were involved in a hit and run with a vehicle, you could receive 12 points on your license. Fleeing or attempting to elude the police, you can receive 12 points. Reckless driving, use of the vehicle while your license is suspended, use of someone else's driver's license; while you using their driver's license basically is fraud, a vehicle conviction of assault or homicide while operating the vehicle. That means if you committed assault or you killed someone while the use of your vehicle, you would receive 12 points on your license. Operating your vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will receive 12 points on your license, committing any felony while using the vehicle, 12 points on your license, making false statements to the police officers regarding the vehicle, 12 points. Commit any traffic violation without the consent of the owner to use that vehicle, that's 12 points on your license. There are a list of other offenses that are less than and you will receive less the points for, and that just really affect your insurance rate, so don't take those lightly as well. You'll find a list of those offences on our website, as well as these, as well as all the point structure. Simply go to www.RollinsandChan.com, click on Traffic, and you will see the point structure on the D.C. traffic points. We also have Maryland traffic points on there as well. Stayed tuned to our channel and thanks for watching. Again, any questions, feel free to call us, the number's on the screen.
