A sea turtle has been given another chance at experiencing life. The female loggerhead turtle, believed to be about 25 years of age has been outfitted with a pair of prosthetic flippers.

Due a suspected shark attack, she lost a part of her right and left limbs, meaning she was not able to swim at normal speeds. She has gone through more than two dozen sets of artificial flippers but each time, the results were unsuccessful, as they caused her pain.

An aquarium located in western Japan has designed a vest, equipped with flippers, which is slipped over her head and securely wrapped preventing her from taking it off.

In 2011, a tortoise named Gamera arrived at Washington State University with a severe injury to his leg. The joint was destroyed, leaving him with no feeling in the left leg.

Doctors at the university were forced the amputate it. The tortoise was then outfitted with a wheel in place of his leg to help him get around.
