I am calling Cathy Hulbert at Piner's Nursing Home, Napa, California.

Cathy Hulbert was Gladys Bruno's nurse at Piners Nursing Home. I learned of the Hulbert, Bruno, Hamler, Carter connection (as shown by signatures in the Last Will & Testament) when I ran a computer search for "Mary Hamler" on the Internet. An obiturary for Gladys Bruno came up on the search results containing Hamler's name.

I had been curious about the name "Gladys Bruno" because her name appeared on one of Mary Hamler's receipts along with my Mother's name for purchases of personal items at a local retailer. This led me to the assumption that Gladys Bruno was another one of Mary Hamler's elderly patients she billed for her services. Cathy Hulbert confirmed that Hamler provided services to Bruno at Piner's Nursing Home.

I then searched the public records database for "Bruno" in the Napa Superior Court Building, Napa, Ca. & discovered a Will & Last Testament for Gladys Bruno. I wrote down the file no. & ordered the complete file for the Last Will & Testament of Gladys Bruno.

After obtaining the Last Will & Testament documents from the clerk at the Napa Superior Court I discovered Scott H. Carter was Bruno's attorney & Mary Hamler had signed on as Executor of the Last Testament & Will of Gladys Bruno.

In the Gladys Bruno obituary, Mary Hamler is described as "surrogate daughter" indicating that a close affiliation had been formed between Hamler & Bruno. In the police report, Hamler denies close affiliations with her elderly patients.

Although the Bruno family is quiet large, as shown in related court documents, HHA Mary Hamler became the executor.

The value of the estate was approximately a quarter of a million dollars (US$250,000). The family members who could have signed on as a witness for this Will did not do so. Nurse Hulbert told me there had been a "falling out" between the family members & Gladys Bruno. Both Hamler & Attorney Scott Henry Carter steped in & the Will was signed by Hamler as the Executor of the Bruno estate.

I contacted relatives of Gladys Bruno that were named in court docs. The mother, perhaps the daughter of Gladys Bruno was sullen & near speechless when I presented a copy of the Will to her. She, subdued, said she would talk to Scott Carter about it. The adult son was in the room, overhearing my conversation.

When the son's eyes met mine, he said, in an angry tone, "I don't want anything to do with it!" and walked out of the room slamming the door behind him.

It is notable that these same words were described in the police report by Mary Hamler. Hamler stated my mother & I had a "falling out". Mary Hamler obtained my Power of Attorney for my Mother's financial estate, my Power of Attorney was terminated. Attorney Scott H. Carter signed the Power of Attorney change, OK'd by Mark Deemer (Wachovia Securities). Carter was the attorney involving the Last Will & Testament of Gladys Bruno representing both Gladys Bruno & Mary Hamler.
