The new parliament in Jordan will have extended powers, including the right to choose the prime minister, as the monarchy seeks to head off a potential uprising.
The electoral commission extended voting by an hour because of what it said was a high turnout.

But as Stefanie Dekker reports from Zarqa, some opposition groups boycotted the vote altogether.
