Number 9 – The fantasy drama flick "Beasts of the Southern Wild" tells the story of a six-year-old girl named 'Hushpuppy’ who deals with an unhealthy, short-tempered dad along with a community plagued by flooding from melting ice caps and the unleashing of wild cattle.
Number 8 – The comedy/drama flick ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ has received nominations in multiple categories. Starring Bradley Cooper, it is about a former teacher who moves in with his parents and tries to get his life back on track after a stay in a mental institution.
Number 7 – The chilling action drama "Zero Dark Thirty" chronicles the man hunt for Osama bin Laden in the years after the September 11th attack.
Number 6 – The historical drama titled “Lincoln” is a major contender for best motion picture. It takes viewers through the inner struggles of president Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War.
Number 5 – The dramatic musical, “Les Miserables" is set in 19th-century France and tells a tale of sacrifice and broken dreams. The movie received a total of eight Oscar nominations.
Number 4 – The fantasy film "Life of Pi" is also an Academy Award contender. The film revolves around a man who lives through a tragedy at sea and then develops a friendship with a Bengal tiger.
Number 3 – French drama flick "Amour" revolves around an elderly couple who are retired music teachers. When the wife suffers from a stroke, the family’s bonds are tested.
Number 2 – “Django Unchained” is an American Western film, which was written by Quentin Tarantino. The film focuses on a freed slave turned bounty hunter, who is on a mission to save his wife.
Number 1 - The movie titled ‘Argo’, which was directed by Ben Affleck has received multiple nomination. The film is about a secret operation involving the CIA and Canadian officials, who work together to get six Americans out of Iran.
