Famous Hollywood Sign Gets Much Needed Makeover

The classic Hollywood sign has gotten a facelift.
For the last ten weeks, work crews have stripped off the old paint and all existing coatings, removing signs of wear and tear and old age.
Crews then applied two fresh coats of white paint, allowing the Hollywood sign to once again shine like a star.
Sherwin-Williams and The Hollywood Sign Trust funded the project for the benefit of the City and its Department of Recreation and Parks, as well as Sign fans around the world.
The sign was built in 1923 as an advertisement for Hollywoodland, an upscale real estate development.
Over the years it has become a west-coast phenomenon, standing as a glamorous symbol for Hollywood and its lifestyle.
