Former Newcastle goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has questioned the club's decision to hand manager Alan Pardew a new eight-year contract.
Pardew has had an impressive tenure on Tyneside since his surprise appointment in December 2010, guiding the club to fifth in the Premier League last season and a spot in the Europa League.
But Hislop has warned Magpies owner Mike Ashley he could come to regret the decision should there be an alarming dip in form.
