Papademos 'agrees' to lead Greek government

A former European Central Bank official and one-time head of the Greek central bank, is set to head an interim government tasked with tackling the country's debt crisis, Al Jazeera understands.

Lucas Papademos has emerged as the consensus choice to replace outgoing prime minister George Papandreou after days of talks between ruling Socialist party officials and their conservative opponents.
