The Center-2008 military exercises took place near the city of Orenburg on the Volga river. More then 12,000 troops participated along with about 1,000 combat ground vehicles, jet aircraft, helicopters and rocket artillery. The war games reached its peak on September 26 with the arrival of Commander-in-Chef, President Dmitry Medvedev.
