This is video released to Al Jazeera through a Freedom of Information Act request to the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service Agency.
It shows part of the police response to unrest that occurred in Oakland, California, on July 8, 2010, in response to the conviction of a police officer of involuntary manslaughter for the killing of Oscar Grant.
The officer killed Oscar Grant early in the morning of January 1, 2009, on his way home from New Year's celebrations, and the killing was caught on video from numerous angles by bystanders.
