2000 IKEA Hangers Transformed - as part of the series on arts by GeoBeats.

We all have a fairly fixed visual image of a hanger. Regardless of its material, the basic shape stays largely constant. But what if you took 2000 hangars together - can you transform them collectively into something unusual and unique?

That's exactly what a Portuguese design firm 'Like Architects' explored for the 2012 oporto show. Describing themselves as a 'practice focused on the designer of ephemeral architectural objects', they took 2000 IKEA hangars in a variety of a colors and setup an installation called 'Chromatic Screen'.

The designers note that - starting from the re-interpretation of a common object of daily use, Chromatic Screen builds a distinct element, spatial organizer, that involves all who visit it into a chromatic experience with different moments of opacity and transparency. The overall experience is highly kinetic and colorful.

What are your thoughts on Chromatic screen? What other daily objects can you see being transformed into something wonderful?
