New York City will test social impact bond investing with Goldman Sachs. The financial services firm will invest $10 million dollars in a jails program, using the innovative financial instrument in which private investments fund public social services. The initiative is aimed at reducing juvenile offender recidivism in city lockups.

Alcoa’s Sandow Mine has earned the “Good Neighbor Award” in the 2012 Excellence in Surface Coal Mining Awards from the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement. Alcoa was noted for working with the nearby Rockdale, Texas community while conducting exemplary mining and reclamation at its operations site.
