Three hundred thousand passengers could be left stranded if Sicilian low-budget airline Windjet collapses.

Italy's civil aviation authority has set up a crisis centre, facilitating other airlines to takeover Windjet's immediate operations, for which passengers would pay a small cost.

People flying with Windjet have been hit with delays and cancellations all weekend.
