Controversy dogs Thai Tiger temple

From 100,000 a century ago to just 3,200 today, the tiger is on course of becoming extinct in the next 12 years if unprotected.

Global wildlife experts are urging governments at a summit in Russia to save the tiger from extinction.

One of the 13 countries taking part in the summit is Thailand.

It boasts of a world-famous Tiger temple, where monks pose for photographs with tigers before fawning tourists. The monks say the tigers have been rescued, but animal welfare groups say the temple is more of a breeding facility, and the animals are drugged, abused and even trafficked.
