Syrian footballer joins opposition

At just 20 years old, Abdul Basit Sarut has put his promising professional career as a footballer on hold, in order to help with the opposition in their demonstrations against the Syrian government in Homs.

Sarut says Syrians are sick and tired after 40 years of rule by what he calls a monstrous regime.

The government killed his brother and many of his closest friends. He says their bodies were tossed into the street and driven over by tanks.

He is now constantly on the run; heo nly travels at night and has survived three attempts on his life.

But he says it is worth it.
