Your Internet Connection Might Fail on Monday - Malware Monday - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

Some Internet users will be blocked from the web on Monday July 9th 2012, if they don’t make sure their computers are clear of the Trojan virus known as the DNSChanger, which appeared in 2007 on millions of computers internationally. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, working together with other companies including Trend Micro, and the computer forensics department at the University of Alabama in Birmingham shut down the Estonia based hacker group that was responsible for the virus, charging seven men with “27 counts of wire fraud, money laundering and illegal computer access, alleging that the group operated a lucrative click jacking scheme that generated over 14 million dollars during a four-year period”

The FBI took over operations of the group’s Internet Domain Name System routers and replaced them with functional servers. But now they are ready to turn them off, which will cause those computers that are still infected with the virus to be blocked from accessing the Internet.
