Outcry on the streets of Karachi as hundreds of Pakistanis protest against the reopening of the NATO supply routes to Afghanistan.

More than five hundred Islamists took to the streets shouting anti-US slogans.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) PROTEST LEADER, KARACHI CHIEF OF JAMAAT-E-ISLAMI, MOHAMMAD HUSSAIN MEHNATI, SAYING:

"We believe that the NATO supplies are against the interest of Pakistan, against the interest of the Muslims, and against the interest of Islam and against the interest of Afghanistan also."

The agreement came after the Obama's administration ceded to months of Pakistani demands to apologize for a U.S. air attack that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers last November.
