Dr. David Samadi, leading robotic prostatectomy surgeon, warns about potential spray tan dangers. While believed to be safer than traditional tanning booths that can cause skin cancer, research now indicates that spray tans could also present a health risk. Inhaling DHA, the main component of the product used for spray tans, has demonstrated to cause genetic mutations, birth defects, and lung cancer in a laboratory setting. While Dr. Samadi states that spray tanning once or twice per year may be safe, he cautions against regular, long-term use. He also reminds viewers that the FDA mandates that spray tanners cover their eyes, nose, and mouth during application.
