Tensions have reignited between the Muslim ethnic Tartars and the Christian Orthodox majority in Ukraini's Crimean peninsula since the Tartars returned to their homeland after having been in exile for decades.

The Tartars, whose presence there dated back centuries, were allowed to return to Crimea in the 1980's after the Soviet Union under Stalin's rule expelled the group during Second World War.

But now the group face many struggles to reclaim their national and cultural rights, while many others in the region accuse them of occupying land.

Neave Barker reports from Crimea.
