The World Health Organization says global suicide rates have increased by 60 per cent over the past 45 years.

In the tiny South American nation of Guyana, suicide occurs in about one in every four thousand people, the highest in the continent.

Al Jazeera's Craig Mauro reports from Berbice, one of the worst affected regions in the country.
