The United States has opened on Sunday a consulate in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil.
The American embassy in Baghdad - already the world's largest - has been expanding as the US transitions from a military to a civilian-led mission in Iraq.
A consulate has also opened in the southern city of Basra.
Al Jazeera's Rawya Rageh visited the consulate in Basra and talked to the city's residents about this expansion.
