Death squads haunt Iraqi victims - 17 Apr 09

They once roamed the streets of Iraq's capital gunning down members of other sects - execution style. It has now been revealed that the death squads who carried out these brutal murders are responsible for a much higher number of civilian deaths than previously thought. A study based on evidence from the Iraq Body Count concludes they make up 33 per cent of those killed since the start of the US led invasion in 2003. The Iraqi government has always said foreign military operations claim most lives. Al Jazeera's Imran Khan has our report on those still haunted by the worst of the violence.
