India's Prime Minister has asked the US to extend it's power in Pakistan to reduce the influence of the Taliban in the country.

In unusually frank remarks, Manmohan Singh questioned whether Asif Ali Zardari, the Pakistan president, had full control of Pakistan.

Singh is in the US capital for an official state visit - the first of Obama's administration - to discuss regional security, climate change, and a landmark nuclear deal.

Patty Culhane reports.
