On Tuesday, a baby seal received its first meal three days after being born. Breeders at the Yantai Dongpaotai Park in Shandong Province put in great effort to feed the newborn.
The seal's mother was not producing milk, and the baby could not find a way to feed for the first two days. Seal pups rarely take alternative sources of food, so anxiety amongst park staff members was high.
Breeders fed the baby seal with mashed fish and vitamins, which was transferred directly into the baby's stomach through a tube.
This seal is the first seal to be born in captivity in China under these conditions.
