U.S. Navy Shows Off New Railgun

US Navy Research has released video of a weapons-grade magnetic accelerator, also known as a railgun. With magnetic acceleration coils, this canon can launch a 40-pound object at speeds of 5,600 miles per hour. Patrick Jones explains why so many have waited a long time to see this.
